Frequently Asked Questions

Short answers to the most common questions about CertificationData QR Tags.

What is a lost & found QR tag?

It’s a QR code you attach to your belongings. If someone finds your item, they can scan the QR and open your tag’s public page. That page shows only the public details you chose to publish (like phone, email, WhatsApp, website, or social links) plus your optional description.

Do I need an app?

No. A scan opens the tag page directly in a normal mobile browser — no app required. You also manage everything from your browser dashboard.

How does the yearly fee work?

Each tag has a small yearly subscription that keeps the public page active. Payments are processed securely via Stripe. If you cancel renewal, the tag stays active until the end of the already paid period. After that, it becomes inactive.

You can manage your subscription from your dashboard (billing / subscription area).

What happens when someone scans my QR tag?

They are taken to your tag’s public page. There they can see:

  • The tag label.
  • Owner display name (optional).
  • Your description or instructions (optional).
  • The public contact channels you chose (for example phone, WhatsApp, email, website, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X).

CertificationData.com does not forward or store messages between you and the other person — communication happens directly via your published contact channels.

Is this only for lost & found?

Lost & found is the main idea, but not the only one. Use QR tags anywhere you want a simple scannable entry point to your contact details or information. Examples:

  • Travel & personal items: luggage, cabin suitcases, laptop bags, camera gear, school bags.
  • Service providers: a house painter or repair service placing a QR on a shop window or flyer so people can scan and contact them.
  • Digital business card: add a QR to your physical card, portfolio, or badge to show a clean contact page.
  • Product information: attach a QR to physical products to show details, usage notes, or support contacts.

In all cases the logic is the same: scan the QR, open a simple page, and contact the owner or creator directly.

Can I change my contact details or description later?

Yes. You can edit the public profile and contact information of each tag at any time from your dashboard. Changes are applied immediately on the public page.

The only element you cannot change after printing is the printed label text under the QR. If you change your mind about the label, you can create a new tag and print a new QR.

Can I temporarily disable a tag?

If you no longer want people to contact you through a tag, you have options:

  • Remove or clear the public contact fields in the tag’s public profile.
  • Cancel renewal so it becomes inactive after the current paid period ends.

Once inactive, the tag clearly shows as inactive.

What if I lose or damage the sticker?

You can always log into your dashboard, open the tag, and download the branded QR again or print a new A4 sheet PDF (5×6 = 30). The digital tag is not lost — only the physical sticker.

Do you see or store private conversations?

No. When someone contacts you, they use your own email, phone, WhatsApp, or social platforms. Conversations stay between you and the other person on those external services. We may keep basic, non-identifying logs of QR scans for security and analytics, but not message content.
